Reopened Business Owner’s DAMAGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GUIDELINES
To be considered for assistance arising out of damage to your Graves County business caused by the December 10, 2021 tornado, you must meet the following requirements:
- You owned and operated full-time a retail, or a service business which had a physical location in Mayfield or Graves County,
- The building occupied by your business was physically and directly destroyed by the tornado of December 10, 2021,
- Your business has re-opened on a full-time basis in a physical location in Mayfield or Graves County on or before 12-10-2022, and remains open at the time an award is made, and
- The aggregate amount received by the business, and any owners, for damage caused by the December 10,2021 tornado from any source, whether insurance, FEMA, or any other source, shall not exceed One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00).
It is anticipated that the assistance will be in the form of a grant in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($ 5,000.00).
The assistance given will be on a case by case basis, subject to the total amount that has been funded for this program. In considering a business to have a physical location either at the time of the tornado or after reopening, it must be located in a building used primarily for that business. Loss of income or loss of business due to the tornado is not considered as direct destruction by the tornado. Neither rental activities nor passive investments shall be considered as a business for this program. Individuals who own or have an interest in more than one business shall not be considered for more than one award.
The purpose of this program is to assist the community by stimulating the local economy, improving the quality of life in our area, and showing that we are open for business by encouraging the reopening of those businesses directly destroyed by the tornado. To accomplish this, the board will be exercising its discretion in making these grants.
